The Fixture, Teams and Groups list for the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup was announced on Tuesday 24 June which will take played in England between June 5th and June 21st 2009. With it came confirmation that the Opening Ceremony will take place at Lord's - on Friday 5 June. Hosts England will play the opening match of the tournament against the Associate Member qualifier in their Group B. Associate Members, currently playing their qualifying matches, include: Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands and Scotland - amongst others. The competition starts on Friday, June 5th at Lords with the host, England, taking on one of the qualifies from the World Cricket League. Double headers will be played everyday to allow fans to see four world class teams at each venue. The Final will be played at Lords on Sunday, June 21st.
The next edition of ICC World Twenty20 is scheduled to take place in England in June 2009. The tournament will have 12 teams in four groups namely Group A , B, C, and D. Teams for Each Group are as follows:
Group A | India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe/ Associate 1 / Scotland
Group B | Pakistan, England, Associate 2 / Ireland
Group C | Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies
Group D | New Zealand, South Africa, Associate 3 / Netherlands

Top two from each group qualify for the Super Eights. If an uncoded team from a group qualifies they take the code of the team which failed to qualify from that group. Super Eight Groups are as follows:
Group E | A1 - India, B2 - England, C1 - Australia, D2 - South Africa
Group F | A2 - Bangladesh, B1 - Pakistan, C2 - Sri Lanka, D1 - New Zealand.
