I will discuss engineering institutes first . When we talk of engineering coaching institutes the first name that come in our minds first is of bansal classes. I know much about this institute as i too studied here(2003-2005). But when we compare kota coaching classes with that of kanpur's
i find kota to be better though it is expensive than kanpur but what matter afterall are results.
The reason for the huge differences in results from kota and from kanpur is majorly dependent upon 2 factors :

1. class size/strength: class size in kota ranges from 60
2. quality of students:
